IRON MOUNTAIN - Eva Jane Peterson, 82, of Iron Mountain, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at home. The former Eva Bartlett was born on June 12, 1931, in Crystal Falls to the late Lloyd "Frank" and Ida (Kirkendall) Bartlett. In her working years, Eva did waitress and catering work, was a nurse's aid, and was a newspaper carrier for the Iron Mountain Daily News. Eva further served as a foster parent for many children, some with special needs. Eva enjoyed many things, such as gardening and growing fresh vegetables, farming, cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing, playing her organ and accordion, her huge fish tank and her birds. She further enjoyed fishing and hunting, shooting her first buck at age 70 and proudly displaying it in The Daily News. Above all else, Eva enjoyed being with family and friends, especially making them big holiday meals. Eva did not get to graduate from High School so later in life the biggest accomplishment for her was attending North Dickinson High School, wearing a cap and gown, and receiving her high school diploma in 1974 at age 39.

Survivors include her four children, Diana Anderson (James) of Hardwood, Judy Plaswirth of Iron Mountain, Sandra Begosh of Iron Mountain and Jane Peterson (Mike) of Sagola; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Bartlett of Randville; many nieces and nephews.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Peterson; daughter, Ethel Marie (Berger) Johnson; granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Smiltneek; four sisters and four brothers.
