Pedestrian killed in apparent hit and run

NEGAUNEE - A Powell Township resident has been killed in an apparent hit-and-run pedestrian fatality.

At approximately 5:20 a.m. Tuesday Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post responded to a 911 call from a passing motorist who reported a body located in the roadway on County Road KCB in Powell Township, about two miles east of Big Bay Village in Marquette County.

Troopers identified a deceased 54-year-old female, Robin Rahoi, who appeared to have been walking on County Road KCB (also known as Lighthouse Road) when she was struck by an unknown hit-and-run vehicle.

On Tuesday afternoon, troopers reported that they had located a possible suspect vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.

An accident reconstructionist from the Michigan State Police 8th District Headquarters is assisting with the investigation.

The Powell Township EMS and Fire Department, and the Marquette County Sheriff's Department assisted troopers at the scene.
