They deserve our praise

From Diane L. Schabo, 511 West F Street, Iron Mountain:

Winter weather has played havoc with so many places including our area. I've watched our water department almost every day working to thaw out frozen pipes within the city. Today I got to use their services. Having no water certainly leaves a person helpless and until I had this experience myself, I never realized how important my water service was. I always have bottled water on hand so drinking water was no problem for me or my pets. However, lacking the bathroom, kitchen sink, and washing machine left me helpless.

I contacted Iron Mountain's Water Department and was told someone would be there to check out the problem as soon as possible. Two water department employees were dispatched and tried to no avail to break up the ice which had lodged itself in my outside water pipe. With the help of my next door neighbor (thank you) and his outside faucet, the men were able to hook up a hose and run a water supply from one house into the next. You would've thought I died and went to heaven. What a treat to have running water again.

I would just like to give our city water department crew a pat on the back. These men are out there in adverse weather conditions and we don't think much of it. They deserve our praise. Please know how thankful I am for your hard work; it's truly appreciated.

From Janice Reed, Mary Madigan, Marge Bednarz, 2013 Dunbar Children's Christmas Party Committee:

The annual Dunbar Children's Christmas Party was held recently with more than 30 children attending with their parents. A good time was had by all. The children made Holiday crafts, frosted cookies, played games and enjoyed a light lunch. Then Santa arrived with a Ho, Ho, Ho, and a special gift for each child.

We would like to thank the Town Chairman (Russ Bousley) and the town of Dunbar, plus the following local businesses and individuals who helped make the event possible this year, Pembine Food Depot, Bank North of Pembine, Forward Financial Credit Union, Richard's Supper Club, American Legion Post 461, La Faive BP station in Pembine, North Country Inn, Nortek Copperworks, Toby Groleski, Rose Marcely, Nancy Reed, Jeri Reed, Lisa Reed, Mike Madigan, Hanson Realty, Walmart, Pembine Pawn and Gun, Paris in Pembine, Grand Motel, American Family Insurance, Kathy Newingham, Joe Stahl, and Rose Gianunzio

We truly appreciate their generous donations and community support, which helped bring smiles and holiday cheer to lots of area children. We look forward to planning next year's holiday party. Happy 2014.
