PEMBINE, Wis. - Maurice G. Johnson, 84, of Pembine, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara, Wis.
He was born in Marinette, Wis., on May 26, 1929, son of Gustave and Adeline (Ninnemann) Johnson. Maurice married Alice (Peterson) on Feb. 23, 1952. He attended Harmony School and worked at a well-drilling company in Harmony before enlisting in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne and the Reserves.
Maurice started his own well-drilling business in 1962 in Milwaukee. He then moved to Pembine and restarted the business in 1972. He was an avid hunter and trout fisherman. He loved watching the show "Polka Polka Polka." Maurice will be dearly missed.
Maurice is survived by his wife, Alice; two children, Debra Johnson and Daniel (Deborah) Johnson; five grandchildren, Paul, Kari, Michele, Josh and Zachary; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Greg Johnson, Germaine Wallenkamp, Gerald Johnson, Roberta Kowalkski, Roger Johnson and Theresa Garbrecht; and is further survived by numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hubert; and a sister, Mary.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Grace Lutheran Church in Pembine, with Pastor Doug Johnson officiating.
Family and friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at church.
Interment will be in the Pembine Cemetery later this spring. Full military honors will be provided by the Pembine American Legion Post 461.
