Football: Stephenson steamrolls Trojans, 42-16
STEPHENSON — Stephenson shut down Forest Park 42-16 in Western Eight Conference action Friday.
The Eagles moved to a 26-0 halftime lead and 42-0 in the fourth quarter. Nate Johnson accounted for all of the Trojans’ points, running two and 37 yards for touchdowns along with a pair of conversions.
“We got outplayed by a better team,” said Forest Park head coach Dave Graff. “Stephenson is a real fine opponent with some tough players. They’re a well rounded team.”
CJ Post led the Trojans (1-2) with 101 yards rushing on 26 carries. Johnson added 90 yards on 15 attempts.
Connor Bortolini, who rushed for 385 yards and seven touchdowns in last week’s win over defending state champion North Central, was injured in the first quarter and did not return.
“We did not play our typical ball,” Graff said. “I didn’t have these guys ready. From here on out we have to come together as a team. Next week we will be ready.”
Peter Ropiak, expected to be a key player this season, has been cleared to start practicing after missing the first three games with a foot injury. His status for Friday’s home game with Superior Central is not known.
Monty Glover scored six touchdowns for Stephenson, including five rushing and one receiving.
