Boys basketball: Niagara loses 5th in a row after falling to Coleman
NIAGARA, Wis. — Coleman pulled away in the second half to beat Niagara 67-45 in M&O Conference action Thursday.
The Badgers (6-15, 2-13) have lost five games in a row with their last win on Jan. 26 against Lena. The Cougars (18-3, 13-2), who can still clinch a share of the M&O title, rolled 35-23 in the second half.
“We played pretty well in the first half,” said Niagara coach Jim Hoogland. “We had a lot of intensiy.”
Austin Hagerty’s 16 points led Niagara.
“I wish we could have had a better outcome for seniors Alex Hagerty, Austin Hagerty, Casey Antonissen, Ben Oratch and Zak Prideaux,” Hoogland said of playing in their final home game.
Niagara plays a make-up game Saturday at Gillett before next week’s WIAA Division 5 regional opener at Wausaukee.
Austin Marquardt and Cole Woulf each scored 17 points for the Cougars.
Coleman won the junior varsity game.
