Jets survive Forest Park, 48-40

Boys Basketball

CRYSTAL FALLS — North Central outlasted Forest Park 48-40 in Skyline Central Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium.

The Jets (15-4, 9-1) carried a 32-27 lead into the fourth quarter but the Trojans (11-9, 6-5) pulled ahead 40-39 with about four minutes to go, according to FP Coach Chris Nocerini.

“It was a hard fought game to the end,” Nocerini said.

Noah Gorzinski scored 12 points and Lucas Dombrowski added 11 for the Jets. Riley Hendrickson and Max Nylund each scored 14 for the Trojans.

Forest Park chalked up 22 fouls, with two players fouling out. The Jets converted 12 free throws to three for the Trojans.

“Foul trouble hurt our rotation and we haven’t found ourselves in that predicament very often,” Nocerini said. “I’m very proud of the kids that came of the bench and battled hard.”

North Central had a 34-18 rebound advantage. Dombrowski grabbed eight while Trenton Schaff and Carter Holle each had seven.

“We didn’t do a good job on the glass,” Nocerini said. “We’re not the best rebounding team but we’re better than we did tonight.”
