Third quarter sinks Nordics

RAPID RIVER — Rapid River exploded for 33 points in the third quarter and defeated North Dickinson 81-48 in a Skyline Central Conference game Friday.

The Nordics (2-16, 2-8) trailed just 28-22 at halftime.

“We actually played well offensively,” said North Dickinson coach Chris Mattson. “In the third quarter, we just couldn’t get to their outside shots. They went off on us.”

The Rockets buried six triples in the frame to build a 26-point lead.

Jared Miller led the Nordics with 17 points and Matthew Bruette chipped in 12.

The Rockets got 25 points from Cameron Willemsen.

Rapid River also took the JV game, 75-50.

North Dickinson hosts Bark River-Harris on Tuesday and Kingsford on Thursday to close its regular season.
