Regional champion Mountaineers to quarterfinals
Iron Mountain (23-1) and Maple City Glen Lake (23-2) will meet Tuesday night in the Class C boys basketball state quarterfinals in Petoskey.
The Mountaineers advanced from the regionals for the first time since 1994 by beating Calumet 56-44 on Wednesday. MCGL defeated Whittemore-Prescott 75-46 for the regional title.
Iron Mountain-MCGL winner will advance to the semifinals Thursday, Âarch 22, at Michigan State University’s Breslin Center.
In the Class D regional final Thursday at Negaunee, unbeaten Dollar Bay edged Carney-Nadeau 65-64. The Blue Bolts (26-0) and Cedarville (22-3), a 58-49 regional winner over Brimley, will meet Tuesday in the state quarterfinals in Escanaba.
