Florence football: 8-player schedule taking shape

FLORENCE — Florence High School has scheduled eight varsity games and two scrimmages for its first season of eight-player football.

The Bobcats, making their debut this fall in eight-player football, will scrimmage at Menominee Indian (Aug. 10) and Forest Park (Aug. 17) to start the season.

“Kris has done a great job finding us games as an independent for one season,” Bobcats head coach Kent Walstrom said of athletic director Kris Johnson.

Florence starts the season with a game at Lena on Aug. 24, followed by trips to DC Everest for a game against McDonell Central, Aug. 30; and Phillips, Sept. 7.

Carney-Nadeau visits Landry Field on Friday, Sept. 14, for the home opener. Before returning to DC Everest on Sept. 21 to meet Port Edwards, the Bobcats will host North Dickinson on Sept. 28 for homecoming and North Central on Oct. 5.

Florence closes the season Oct. 13 at Menominee Indian.

Florence’s junior varsity schedule shows seven games, with three home dates set for Sept. 4, Northern Elite Predators; Sept. 10, Suring; and Oct. 1, Laona-Wabeno.
