Flivver hockey: Perpich, Burke earn academic honors

KINGSFORD — Kingsford High School seniors Sawyer Perpich and TJ Burke have been named to the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association’s academic all-state team.

Perpich will graduate this spring with a cumulative grade point average of 4.021. The son of Dennis and Jill Perpich of Kingsford will be pursuing a degree in education at Michigan State University.

Burke, the son of Dan and Elaine Burke of Iron Mountain, will graduate this spring with a cumulative GPA of 3.868. He will be pursuing a degree in pre-med at Ferris State University.

“I’m so proud of both of these young men for their efforts both on the ice and in the classroom,” said Kingsford coach Denis Murvich. “They exemplify the very best in high school athletics and I wish them the very best in their future endeavors. They will be missed.”
