Niagara golf: Cole Brown has ‘strong showing’

POUND, Wis. — Niagara’s Cole Brown played his first golf match of the season Monday in the M&O Conference meet at Parkway Golf Course.

“Cole had a strong showing,” Badgers coach Nicole Anderson said of the junior shooting a 50. “It was also very nice to see improvement from my younger golfers. They are getting more comfortable on the golf course and with the rules of the game which is helping to settle nerves and calm them down.”

The Badgers also carded Julia Brown, 71; Brooke Schwedersky, 72; and Jon Phillips, 80.

“I look forward to seeing continued improvement from this team,” Anderson said. “They are a hard-working group of athletes.”

Medalist Cody Van Hoff’s 40 led Coleman, 190, to team honors over Crivitz 206, STAA 229, Wausaukee 252, Niagara 273 and Suring/Gillett 302.

Niagara’s next meet is Thursday at Riverside Country Club in Menominee.
