Railroaders back atop SBL standings with Mavericks

CHANNING — The Channing Railroaders completed a comeback in the bottom of the seventh for a 6-5 walk-off win over Coldwell Banker on Thursday.

With Kyle Sexton at third and no outs, Dane Vandenheuvel grounded out to the third baseman. Sexton scored as Vandenheuvel collided with Coldwell Banker’s first baseman. The umpires discussed the play before ruling both runners safe.

The Railroaders (6-1) faced a 4-0 deficit in the top of the second before scoring three in the bottom half. Coldwell Banker (4-3) added a run in the third before Channing came back to tie in the fifth.

The win brings Channing to even keel with Marquette County in a tie atop the Superiorland Baseball League standings. Coldwell Banker is two games behind.
