DICK ALLEN

MARQUETTE — Five individuals and one team will be inducted into the Northern Michigan University Sports Hall of Fame on Friday.

Football and track standout Richard “Dick” Allen, a former Iron Mountain High School administrator and coach, will be one of this year’s inductees.

Allen was the starting running back on the 1956 NMU football squad that finished the season undefeated. Two years later, he was named a Little (now NCAA Division II) All-American after he led the Wildcats in rushing with 386 yard and scoring with 36 points.

During his time at NMU, Allen was also a four-year letter winner for the track and field team.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in speech from Northern, he later earned a master’s in educational administration from his alma mater.
