North Dickinson falls to Jets

WESTON, Wis. — Florence relied a steady ground attack for a 44-12 win over Port Edwards on Friday.

“That’s a lot of yards on the ground. We only punted once,” Florence head coach Kent Walstrom said. “We had a lot of first downs.”

Kaden Schuls had a 35-yard touchdown catch. He also led the team defensively with nine tackles.

Jets rout Nordics

FELCH — North Central Jets took control early in a 55-6 rout over North Dickinson on Friday.

The Jets (3-1) put up 28 points in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, North Dickinson struggled to generate momentum on either side of the ball. The Nordics (0-4) had 156 yards of offense including 102 rushing and 54 passing.

“We’ve been kind of going through this all year,” North Dickinson head coach Mike Christian said. “We just gotta buckle down and look at Florence next week. We scrimmaged them and we scrimmaged them pretty well. Hopefully that’ll give the kids a little bit of confidence. At least the confidence that we can compete.”

Devin Donaldson rushed 11 times for 47 yards for the Nordics. Brennan Donaldson completed 2 of 11 passes for 54 yards.

North Dickinson’s lone score came on a 1-yard run in the third quarter by Brendon Steinbrecher.

Despite the offensive struggles, Christian said he sees steady improvement.

“Our passing game I think is getting better,” he said. “It was a little off tonight. I think that’s been improving a lot. When he can throw the ball, then we run better.”

Despite spotting 55 points to North Central, Christian said the defense wasn’t far away from playing a much better game.

“It’s strange because we played pretty well defensively, I feel. It’s always that one missed tackle and he’s gone,” Christian said. “It’s having one guy with a letdown on a play is our biggest issue right now.”

North Dickinson plays at Florence, Wis. next week while North Central is at Forest Park.
