Football: Northern Elite blanks Suring, 34-0

NIAGARA, Wis. — Defense helped Northern Elite roll in a 34-0 MONLPC-Small win over Suring on Friday.

Brent Dumke had a 60-yard interception return and 93-yard fumble return, both for touchdowns.

The Predators also notched 290 yards of offense all on the ground.

Dumke also had a 48-yard run just before halftime to put the Predators up 21-0.

“We had a few offensive plays the whole first quarter again. Then we had a really long drive in the second quarter that culminated with that Dumke run,” Northern Elite head coach Ben Laarman said. “Then we were able to get a stop and get the ball back with a minute left. We had that long run with about 30 seconds before halftime. That was big.”

Dumke ran 16 times for 111 yards. Landen Kaldor ran 17 times for 144 yards and a touchdown, a 60-yard run in the third quarter.

Laarman said he was pleased with the defensive performance. Dumke and Charlie Schaefer led with six tackles apiece.

“I think the key was our D-line really. They controlled the line of scrimmage,” Laarman said. “They couldn’t run the ball inside at all, so they had to go outside. Without having that inside running game, it was tough for them.”
