JV/Frosh Football: Flivvers top Lumberjacks

WAUSAU, Wis. — Caleb Boone scored two touchdowns and Kingsford defeated Wausau East 21-6 in junior varsity football.
Boone had nine carries for 119 yards including a 68-yard touchdown run. He also grabbed a 40-yard scoring pass and kicked three PAT.
Carter Kreski added 81 yards rushing on seven attempts. He ran 42 yards for a touchdown.
Nolan LaVarnway led the defense with seven tackles, followed by Kreski with six, Elliot Johnson with five and Josh Viau with four. Cole Bracket recovered a fumble and Boone intercepted a pass.
The Flivvers (2-2) visit Lomira on Monday.
Flivver frosh blanks Bay Port
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Kingsford forced three turnovers and the Flivver freshmen downed Bay Port 22-0.
“The defense came up big holding Bay Port on downs in the red zone a few times,” said Coach Jim Myllyla, noting Ben Picket played very well on a “very wet soggy field.”
Danny Weber ran the ball extremely hard and rushed for over 100 yards, according to Myllyla. Nathan Bousley had a 60-yard touchdown run.
“The offensive line did a great job blocking,” Myllyla said.
The Flivvers visit Gladstone on Thursday.
Mountaineers ride Broncos
HARRIS — Eli Lofholm tossed a pair of touchdown passes and Iron Mountain blanked Bark River-Harris 14-0 in junior varsity football.
Joey Dumais grabbed a 62-yard scoring pass in the first half for a 6-0 lead.
In the fourth quarter, Dante Basanese caught a 65-yard touchdown pass. Lofholm followed with a two-point conversion pass to Dumais.
“The defense played well all night,” said Coach Bucky Johnson, citing Hunter Fortner for recovering a fumble and intercepting a pass.
Jon Carrion, Dumais and Fortner led the team in tackles. Zac Erickson and Preston Roberts also recovered fumbles.
The Mountaineers travel to Calumet on Thursday.
