Prep football: Jets jolt Ontonagon

EWEN — North Central routed Ontonagon 59-0 in Great Lakes Eight football Friday.

“North Central is really good,” Gladiator coach Ben Mayer said. “It was a very tough match-up for us. They have good speed players and big, strong, quick guys on the line. They spread out your defense with spread formations and then run it up the middle and they run their wide stuff. They pass it, too. They are the total package.”

Mayer said the game stood at 14-0 for awhile, but North Central got loose for big plays on offense.

“We went after them on defense, but they still got the big plays,” Mayer said.

The Jets (3-1) visit North Dickinson (0-4) on Friday.

clips Nordics

FELCH — North Dickinson found some success through the air but fell to Cedarville 68-26 in a Great Lakes Eight Conference crossover game Friday.

Brennan Donaldson threw touchdown passes of 40, 33 and 28 yards to Cameron Schultz.

“I was very happy with our offense,” said North Dickinson coach Mike Christian. Cedarville’s size and quarterback play was a factor in outplaying the defense, he said.

Matthew Bruette wheeled a 68-yard touchdown run for the Nordics, along with a conversion run. Bruette also paced the defense with 14 tackles and a blocked punt.

Donaldson was 12 for 19 passing for 259 yards with one interception. Schultz totaled 156 receiving yards.

Devon Donaldson-Cherubini was North Dickinson’s leading rusher with 97 yards.
