Small goal soccer: Adult League starts fall session

Adult Soccer League Photo Josh Plante of Superiorland takes a shot as Wes Jacobson of FNB turns away from the ball in an Adult Soccer League small-goal game played Saturday in Quinnesec. Looking on are, from left, Angie Tripp of FNB, Alex Walker of Superiorland and Michael Johns of FNB. Cody Larson of FNB is in the background. QUINNESEC — Adult Soccer League’s first small-goal season kicked off Saturday. “Small goal soccer is a significant change from regular soccer as the field is shorter and more narrow and the goals much smaller,” said league coordinator Tony Flaminio. A regulation-size, normal field for adults is 120 yards long by 80 yards wide, with goals that are eight-feet tall and 24-feet long. Small goal soccer field, by comparison, is 50 yards long by 33 yards wide and the goals six-feet high by 12-feet long. There are only six players on the field from each team. In the opening games, Armstrong Creek and Packerland Broadband/CCI played to a 2-2 tie and FNB defeated Superiorland SC 6-2. Anyone interested in playing should join the league's Facebook page at Iron Mountain Kingsford Adult Soccer.
