Volleyball: Kingsford’s 25 kills help sweep Maroons
MENOMINEE — Five girls combined for 25 kills as Kingsford swept Menominee 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-18) in Great Northern Conference action Tuesday.
“We played our tempo of volleyball,” said Kingsford head coach Jaclynn Kreider. “We were able to capitalize on good passing and execute on offense.”
Maggie Strehlow led the Flivvers with seven kills, followed by Aby Pickett and Ali Doolittle each with five and Olivia Allen and Tori Kowalkowski with four apiece.
“It was nice to see our defense anticipating Menominee’s attack,” Kreider said.
The Flivvers (2-1 GNC) host Marquette on Thursday.

Badgers swept
WAUSAUKEE, Wis. — Wausaukee outlasted Niagara 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 26-24) in M&O Conference volleyball Tuesday.
“My team played one heck of a game tonight,” said Niagara coach Carol St. Arnauld. “We may have lost but it was not without a fight.”
The Badgers trailed 17-10 in the third game before staging a comeback.
“We had moments of greatness and my team played closer to their potential than they ever have,” St. Arnauld said. “This team showed a lot heart tonight. I’m looking forward to this team continuing to improve and build on their confidence.
“If they continue to believe in their capabilities, I see great things in their future.”
Jasmine Racine and Alyssa Cretton each had seven kills for the Badgers. Four Rangers combined for 30 kills.
Niagara (6-12, 3-4) hosts Coleman on Thursday.

Florence sweeps
WHITE LAKE, Wis. — Jenna Springer served up six aces as Florence swept White Lake 3-0 (25-4, 25-15, 25-19) in Northern Lakes Conference action Tuesday.
Florence’s Jordyn Springer and Bailey Apfel each had six spike kills. Cassie Larson served at 100 percent. Karmen Anderson tallied 22 assists.
Florence (8-3, 2-1) returns to White Lake on Thursday for matches with Three Lakes and Goodman-Pembine.
