Volleyball: Suring outlasts Niagara
SURING, Wis. — Suring topped Niagara 3-2 (11-25, 25-19, 25-13, 23-25, 15-8) in M&O Conference volleyball Tuesday.
“My team came out and played strong the first game,” said Niagara head coach Carol St. Arnauld. “Then we went into the next few games and completely lost focus.
“Bottom line is Suring outhustled us tonight. We were timid at the net and inconsistent with our sets.”
Jasmine Racine’s 12 kills and Jula Brown’s 21 assists led the Badgers (4-5 M&O).
“This team has too many weapons not to utilize our front-row hitters,” St. Arnauld said. “We need to learn from our mistakes and work hard in practice.”
The Badgers host Crivitz on Thursday.
“They are going to come prepared,” St. Arnauld said. “This team needs to play with more consistency and determination.”

Norway beats Superior Central
EBEN JUNCTION — Norway downed Superior Central 3-1 (21-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-15) in Skyline Central Conference volleyball Tuesday.
“It was a good night for Norway volleyball,” said Norway head coach Steve Andrews, his Knights improving to 4-0 in the conference. “Our outsides’ hitting percentage was high tonight.
“Allie Sheski attacked the ball with an arsenal of shots. Haley Clifford was in full hammer mode. This was our best hitting night this season and Jacqueline Bal continues to be surgical.”
Andrews said the Knights’ passing was “OK.”
“Our middles and rights are starting to put some heat on the ball,” Andrews said. “Our consistency is starting to flat-line instead of peaks and valleys.”
Norway (4-0) hosts Ishpeming in a non-conference match Thursday.
