Boys basketball: Niagara drops M&O matchup to Wausaukee

NIAGARA, Wis. — Niagara fell to Wausaukee 61-48 in the M&O Conference boys basketball opener Tuesday.

Tristan DeJardin’s 15 second-half points led the Badgers (0-3, 0-1), who trailed 30-16 at halftime.

“We played much better in the second half,” said Niagara head coach Jim Hoogland. “Our intensity was much better. We made really nice basketball plays.

“Tristan had some foul trouble in the first half but came back to play really well in the second half.”

Landen Kaldor added 13 points and Ethan Sweig had 11 for the Badgers. Tyler Gruszynski’s 19 points topped the Rangers.

Niagara won the junior varsity game 42-35.

The Badgers travel to Suring on Friday.
