Boys basketball: Niagara still winless after 50-33 loss to Tigerton

Badgers lose 8-point lead in first half

TIGERTON, Wis. — Niagara failed to sustain a first-half lead in a 50-33 non-conference loss to Tigerton on Thursday.

The Badgers (0-8), already with a shorter roster this season, were without Landen Kaldor and Joshua Weber.

Tigerton (2-7) took the lead about halfway through the first half, flipping an eight-point deficit to lead by eight at halftime.

In the second half, the Badgers fell into foul trouble and Tigerton maintained its lead at the free-throw line.

“We just didn’t come ready to play. We got off to a slow start,” Niagara head coach Jim Hoogland said. “They got a little bit of confidence going and made some shots against us.”

Logan Bath led Niagara with 10 points.

Steve Parrott led Tigerton with 20 points.

Niagara shot 14 of 55 for the game including 3 of 21 from long range.

Hoogland said he sees his team getting its first win soon.

“We’re getting a little better each time,” he said. “We have a tough game coming up Friday against Crivitz, which I think is the class of our conference. Tuesday we play STAA and that should be a golden opportunity for us.”

Niagara JV won 52-42.

Niagara plays at Crivitz on Jan. 4.
