Hockey: Kingsford falls in OT to Gremlins

IRON MOUNTAIN — Seth Francois scored halfway through overtime to complete Houghton’s comeback in a 4-3 win on Tuesday.

The Gremlins scored a goal in each period after facing a two-goal deficit in the first period.

Kingsford’s Eamonn Weed put up the first goal on the power-play with about just past the halfway point of the first period on assists from Colin Watkins and Trey Bociek.

David Brule III added another goal three and a half minutes later for a 2-0 margin. The goal was assisted by Jackson Andrews and David Juul.

Houghton’s Brendan Erickson answered five minutes into the second, assisted by Nico Rajala.

Erickson scored again three minutes into the third period, assisted by Brad Gauthier.

Francois’ goal came four and a half minutes into the eight-minute overtime.

Evan Hedtke made 42 saves on 46 shots for the Flivvers. Houghton’s Jimmy Pietila had 11 saves on 14 shots.

Kingsford hosts Negaunee on Monday.
