Storm’s Mascarette wins fourth regional
CRANDON, Wis. — Northwoods Storm’s Tristen Mascarette earned his fourth WIAA regional wrestling title and trip to the sectionals Saturday.
Mascarette (34-4) pinned Lucas Bean of Three Lakes/Phelps in the second period to win the 120-pound title. The senior from Florence pinned Elijah Duerst of Crivitz) in the first period of the semifinals.
Storm first-year wrestler Coleton Armstrong (285) also qualified for the sectionals at Bonduel. Armstrong pinned Crandon’s Nick Adamski in the second period for runner-up honors.
Armstrong (14-13) also pinned Three Lakes/Phelps’ Aaron Bird in the semifinals. Regional champ Jacob Eighmy of Elcho pinned Armstrong in the finals.
The Storm, coached by Jeff Conroy, had two other wrestlers in the regional — Dakota Wicke (22-13), third at 138 pounds; and Josh Broullire (20-16), fifth at 145.
