Soccer: IM begins season Saturday with twinbill vs. Wrightstown

IRON MOUNTAIN — Defending UP Girls Soccer Conference champion Iron Mountain begins the season Saturday.

The Mountaineers of coach Stephen Hodgins are scheduled to play two games Saturday in Wrightstown.

Senior Riley Poupore, who suffered a torn ACL in basketball, earned UPGSC Player of the Year honors last season.

Senior Mia Formolo, an all-league honorable mention last season, is one of 13 returning players. The others are seniors Lauren Lesky, Clara Irwin and Hanna Ellis; juniors Grace Plante, Macy McCormick and Reagan Lundholm; and sophomores Chloe Bianco, Leah Larsen, Arianna Morel, Cadeance Lindsley and Olivia Stanchina.

The Mountaineers, a co-op with Norway, graduated all-conference players Brianna Hoffman, Marissa Schilling and Bethany Fehr.

Assisting Hodgins are Marissa Klarich and Molly Uhazie.
