Anderson brothers win Oak Crest golf tournament

NORWAY — The Anderson brothers captured the rain-shortened Paul Lambert Memorial Golf Tournament at Oak Crest Golf Course on Saturday.

Dan Anderson and Darren Anderson shot a 10-under par 62 to win the tournament by two strokes over Jim Markell and Nick Markell.

Ryan Allred and Sam Fredrick placed third in championship flight with a 65, followed by Ryan Gordon and Mitch Horn, 66; Tony Ward and Dale Ward Jr., 66; and Chad Tirschel-Tom LaVigne, 66.

Kevin Londo, Oak Crest director of golf and operations, reported that 125 golfers played 18 holes Saturday and “competed in elements.” Rain washed out Sunday’s round.

The tournament drew 11 flights of 11 golfers.

“Few teams withdrew due to the weather,” Londo said.

Former Niagara resident Jan Bovee recorded his fourth hole-in-one, acing the 137-yard seventh hole for the fourth time in his golf career.

Bovee, who used a 9-iron, received a set Callaway irons with “this awesome shot,” Londo said.
