MHSAA’s revised football playoff points system came a year too late for Kingsford.

According to Mick McCabe of the Detroit Free Press, Kingsford’s 4-5 record in 2018 would have been good enough for the new playoff format.

“Beginning in the fall of 2020, a team’s strength of schedule will be the overriding determination of whether a school is in or out of the 256-team playoff field,” McCabe wrote. “More importantly, it rewards a school even if it loses to a quality opponent.”

Ericka’s mom, daughter of Dave and Arlene Peterson of Crystal Falls, said that time broke a state record and ranks second in the nation.
