Packers, Lions both involved in trades

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns have traded rookie quarterback David Blough to the Detroit Lions, who got a firsthand look at him Thursday night.

Blough completed 11 of 17 passes for 115 yards and threw two interceptions in a 20-16 win in the exhibition finale. The undrafted free agent from Purdue finished 25 of 43 for 271 yards with two touchdown passes and the two picks during the preseason.

Cleveland and Detroit swapped seventh-round draft picks in 2022 in the deal.

The Lions have been moving quarterbacks in and out over the past week. Tom Savage is expected to back up starter Matthew Stafford. Savage returned from a concussion sustained in the preseason opener and played the first half Thursday.

However, he was outperformed by Josh Johnson, who came in and threw a TD pass and ran for a score.

The Lions also released the following players: safety Andrew Adams, offensive linemen Luke Bowanko, Ryan Pope and Micah St. Andrew, cornerbacks Andre Chachere and Jamar Summers, wide receivers Jordan Lasley and Tommylee Lewis, defensive linemen Eric Lee and Mitchell Loewen, punter Ryan Santoso and running back James Williams.

…The Green Bay Packers have agreed to send outside linebacker Reggie Gilbert to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a conditional 2020 draft pick.

Gilbert played all 16 games for Green Bay last season and had 15 quarterback pressures to rank second on the team. The 26-year-old former undrafted free agent from Arizona had spent the majority of his first two seasons on Green Bay’s practice squad before his breakthrough last year.

The 6-foot-3, 261-pound Gilbert has 47 tackles, 3 1/2 sacks and 20 quarterback pressures in 18 career games.

Gilbert started 47 games in his college career and totaled 143 tackles, 27 for loss, 14 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries for Arizona.
