IRON MOUNTAIN — Mid-Peninsula Conference Girls Tennis powerhouse Westwood traveled to Dickinson County to take on the Iron Mountain Lady Mountaineers on Thursday afternoon, and came away with an 8-0 sweep of coach Sharon Ducat’s squad.

The Lady Patriots, who won all eight matches in straight sets on the day, host another conference foe in the Gwinn Lady Modeltowners at 4 p.m. Monday before hosting the Mid-Pen Conference meet Wednesday, in which the Mountaineers will also compete. Iron Mountain hosts the Menominee Lady Maroons in non-conference action on Monday.

“We played well Wednesday night against Ishpeming and were able to exploit some of their weaknesses. Unfortunately, we ran into a very good Westwood team today that was able to exploit our weaknesses” Ducat said. “We have a home match Monday against Menominee where, hopefully, we will be able correct some of the mistakes that we were making today, as we prepare for the Mid Pens on Thursday at Westwood.”
