Prep football: Flivvers freshmen earn victory
MENASHA, Wis. — Leading 7-0 early in the game, the Flivvers JV faced a 21-7 deficit and battled back to tie the game at 21-21. But the Menasha Blue Jays went on to a 33-21 win.
Flivvers quarterback Michael Meneguzzo rushed five times for 60 yards and a touchdown. He was 4-for-14 with a touchdown pass to Benjamin Pickett.
Toby Wilcox also rushed for a touchdown, and had a team-high six tackles defensively. Pickett and Alaster Johnson each had five tackles and a quarterback sack.
Head Coach John VanDusen’s Flivvers JV play tonight at 6:30 p.m. against Menominee at Flivver Field.
In the freshman contest, the Flivvers opened the 2019 season with a 28-14 victory.
Cole Myllyla ran for 86 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown. Myllyla also had two interceptions on defense. Nick Nora ran for 82 yards with two touchdowns, on runs of 15 and 45 yards.
Nora also threw a successful two-point conversion to Charlie Christensen. Jack Bartolac added 42 yards rushing to the Flivvers ground attack.
