Look for Jets to run past opponents

Boys Basketball

POWERS — Anybody who watched the North Central Jets boys last basketball season or this past football season knows what like they to do — utilize their speed and run, run, run.

“That’s no secret,” second-year coach Mike Malone said. “Everybody’s seen these kids play football, so they know the strengths and the way I played and the way I coached for the last several years. I’m willing to show them and I’m willing to push them, so that’s kind of the idea. We’re going to get after it.”

The Jets’ 10-man roster has athletes all over the floor. Their biggest strength might just be defense.

“One-through-10 we don’t have a weak defender,” Malone said. “They all have a super desire to get after it — I don’t that know I’ve ever had that 1-through-10. I’ve had really good defenders over the years, but I’ve always had one or two weak ones — guys that would create problems for me defensively. I don’t know that I really have that.”
