Nordics fall short of upset at Rapid River

Boys Basketball

RAPID RIVER — North Dickinson led at halftime before falling to Rapid River 67-53 in Skyline Central Conference boys basketball Friday.

Cameron Schultz led the Nordics with 18 points on six triples, while Brennan Donaldson recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Holding a 33-32 advantage after the first half, the Nordics trailed 49-46 entering the fourth quarter.

“I think they just wore us out,” said North Dickinson coach Chris Mattson. “We probably had our best first half offensively this season. Brennan Donaldson had his best game of the year and Cameron was consistent.”

The Rockets improved to 12-6 overall while the Nordics dropped to 4-14. Tyler Sundling led Rapid River with 22 points.

“I’m very proud with the effort,” Mattson said. “Nothing but positives, we’re getting better.”

North Dickinson is at home Tuesday against Bark River-Harris and closes out the regular season on Thursday, hosting Kingsford.

Rapid River won the jayvee game.
