Badgers, Florence girls take conference losses

ELCHO, Wis — Florence junior Patrick Millan recorded a double-double of a game-high 21 points and 17 rebounds, and sophomore point guard Evan Johnson chipped in 10 points and dished out 10 assists for a double-double of his own as the Bobcats cruised past Elcho 80-60 here Tuesday night.

Florence sophomore Dominic DeMuri drained 19 points, while freshman William Kelley canned 14 points in the Northern Lakes Conference matchup.

“Great win on the road tonight, and I am proud of my guys,” said Florence head coach Bryan Bomberg. “They battled and stuck with what was working.”

“We wanted to control tempo of the game and with that we had to be strong on the boards. We got 47 boards, only committed eight and we got to the free throw line 20 times,” Bomberg added.

The Purple Hornets had three players in double figures as well, with Chase Novak netting a team high 16 points. Cole Kupfer chipped in 11 points, while Kolton Schmidt added 10 points in the losing effort.

The Bobcats, who improve to 10-3 on the season, travel to NLC leader Laona-Wabeno Thursday night in a makeup game from Dec. 17. Florence hits the road again on Friday night, to travel to NLC for White Lake as part of a varsity only double header with the Florence girls team.

In other Northern Lakes Conference boys basketball action on Tuesday, Goodman-Pembine defeated Crandon 60-52 at Crandon.

Head coach Joe Nutt and the Patriots improve to 9-1 on the season with the win. G-P travels to Elcho on Friday, before hosting Florence on Tuesday night at Pembine High School.

Crivitz rolls past Badgers cagers

NIAGARA, Wis. — With every player getting into the scoring column, Crivitz defeated Niagara 81-43 here Tuesday night in Marinette-Oconto Conference boys basketball.

The Wolverines, who also won the JV game, were led in scoring by Alec Grandaw with a game-high 16 points. Eian Bauman chipped in 14 points for Crivitz, while Sean Christiansen and Seth Sellen each added nine points.

Aiden Colenso led the Badgers with nine points, with Nicholas Krueger chipping in 8 points. Niagara, who falls to 4-9 on the season, travels to Gillett on Friday for another M&O conference matchup.

Three Lakes

stifles Ladycats

THREE LAKES, Wis. — In Northern Lakes Conference girls basketball action here Tuesday night, Florence was defeated by Three Lakes 74-40. The Blue Jays led 42-14 at halftime, as Florence played without head coach Brad Perry who was unable to attend the game.

Assistant coach Jim Uren led the Ladycats on the evening, who were overmatched by Three Lakes’ veteran team. Freshman Isabella Millan led Florence with 22 points.

Victoria Peterson and Abigail Price each chipped in six points for Florence, Lacey Enders, Kiera Sullivan and Paige Uren each scored two points to round out the scoring for Florence. There was no JV game, as Florence doesn’t field a JV squad this season.

The Ladycats, who slip to 5-10 on the season, travel to longtime non-conference rival Niagara Thursday night. Florence hits the road again on Friday, as they travel to NLC foe White Lake as part of a varsity only doubleheader with the Florence boys team.
