ELCHO, Wis. — Ellie Asbach’s 22 points led Elcho to a 58-19 win over Goodman-Pembine in girls basketball Monday.

The Patriots concentrated their defensive efforts on Asbach, said Goodman-Pembine coach Brian Waitrovich.

“We tried to shut her down with a box-and-one,” he said. “The rest of their team stepped up and made outside shots.”

The Patriots (1-5), who trailed 28-4 at the break, were led by Rebekah Strietzel’s eight points. Grace Massey added four points.

“My girls continue to improve,” Waitrovich said. “We’re playing with more energy, more confidence. We’ve got to start finding a way to put the ball in the basket.”

Amanacer Houle and Lilly Reinke chipped in 13 points each for the Hornets (5-4). Goodman-Pembine will host Laona-Wabeno jayvees at Goodman at 5:45 p.m. today.
