Three Lakes clips Bobcats in overtime, 71-70

FLORENCE, Wis. — Despite sophomore Evan Johnson’s game-high 26 points, and junior Patrick Millan registering a double-double of 17 points, and 13 rebounds, Three Lakes slipped past Florence 71-70 in overtime Thursday night in Northern Lakes Conference action.

“Tough one tonight. It’s rough losing any ball game, but in OT by one point, it’s hard,” said Florence head coach Bryan Bomberg. “The one thing I told our guys, we must learn from this and get ready for postseason.”

Three Lakes had four players score in double figures on the night, led by Jared Kausman with 25 points. Cole Melton chipped in 15 points, Sam Eppler netted 12 points, while Logan Erickson added 10.

Bobcats freshman William Kelley chipped in 14 points in the loss, as Florence finishes the regular season at 14-5.

The Bobcats, who earned the top seed in their six-team regional in Division 5 sectional No. 2, have a bye until Feb. 19. They will host the winner of Tuesday night’s No. 5 seed Elcho at No. 4 seed Wausaukee contest.

Three Lakes, the No. 3 seed, will host No. 6 seed Niagara Tuesday night. The winner of the TL versus Niagara game will travel to face Goodman-Pembine on Feb 19, with the game to be played at either Goodman-Armstrong Creek or Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine High School.
