SOUTH REPUBLIC — The Norway boys and North Dickinson girls took home the team championships at the Republic-Michigamme Invitational track meet Thursday afternoon.

Nordic junior Ashton Hord won four events: 100, 200, 400 meters and the long jump. Hord’s teammate Micah Lindholm won both hurdles races, while Vanessa Lindholm went on to the win in the 800 meters for ND.

The Nordics girls won the 3200, 400 and 1600 relays as well.

Norway sophomore Taylor Adams won the 3200 meter run.

On the boys side, Forest Park senior Mason Rintala won three events — the 3200, 1600 and the 800 meters.

As for the Knights boys, they placed in nearly every event they entered, despite the squad consisting of just nine competitors. Norway won the 400 and 800 meter relays.

Senior Zach Seat won the high jump for the Knights, clearing 5’2″.

“We had great relays, the boys ran hard in all of them,” said Norway boys head track coach Al Trudeau. “(Jeff) Van Holla pulled off the 400 relay for us by a foot, down the stretch.”

Bryce Neuens got a third in the shot put, in his first time entering the event, Trudeau noted.

“With only nine on the roster, they run in everything and nobody complains. Four great seniors, Jacob Moln, Zach Seat, Brandon Dishaw and Jeff VanHolla are great leaders and are willing to run any event for us to score team points,” Trudeau added.

The Knights, Nordics and Forest Park will return to action on Monday in a meet hosted by North Dickinson at James D. Priestap Memorial Field.
