KINGSFORD — Jaxon Buckley scored a penalty kick goal for the host Flivvers as Kingsford defeated Escanaba 1-0 at Commemorative Field on Thursday.

“Kingsford had possession of the ball on the Escanaba side of the field most of the game,” said Kingsford coach Jeff Gordon. “With several shots towards the Escanaba goal, the only score of the game came when an Escanaba defender tripped Jaxon Buckley.”

Kingsford will travel to Minocqua, Wis. on Saturday to play in a tournament at Lakeland High School. The Flivvers will face Marquette in the opening round

“We’ve had a lot of players out sick this week. It’s been a constant moving players around to fill spots. It will be nice to have a sick-free team soon,” Gordon added.

The Flivvers will host Iron Mountain on Monday at 5 p.m.
