CHEBOYGAN – The Portage Lake Little League Minors (ages 8-10) softball team finished second in the state after a 10-0 loss Tuesday to Georgetown in the championship game.

The Upper Peninsula team reached the title game with a 17-6 win over Grosse Pointe.

On Monday, Portage Lake defeated Three Rivers 10-2 in the quarterfinals. Portage Lake had finished pool play with a 3-0 record.

Escanaba, meanwhile, reached the semifinals but fell to Georgetown 5-1.
