STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Former Kingsford Flivvers standout Jaxon Buckley wasted no time establishing himself as a top soccer player during his first season for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers.

The 5-foot-11 freshman was named to the all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team. He was named co-newcomer of the year in the league as well.

Buckley led the Pointers with 11 goals, the first time in program history a player scored double figures in goals in a season. He also dished out four assists for 26 total points scored, good for second on the club.

Additionally, Buckley tallied three game-winning goals and put 23 of his 45 shots on goal.

Buckley was named WIAC Offensive Player of the Week in September after he recorded two goals at Ripon and at Beloit, including the game-winner in both matches.

He was also named the UWSP athlete of the week during the season.

The Pointers advanced to the WIAC final for the first time in program history but fell to host No. 21 UW-Eau Claire 1-0 on Saturday.

UWSP finished the season with a 13-4-4 record.
