Eagle River fishing day for kids set for July 11 at Vilas County Fairgrounds

EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — The Eagle River Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center along with the Headwaters Chapter of Muskies Inc and the Eagle River Guides Association will host the 39th annual Eagle River Fishing Day for Kids from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 11.

This event is free for children between the ages of 7 and 12 years old and pre-registration is required.

Activities include fishing seminars given by members of Muskies Inc. and the Eagle River Guides Association, a casting contest and fishing with an area fishing mentor. A bag lunch and door prizes are also included in the day’s activities.

Children are welcome to bring their own fishing gear and life preservers. Fishing mentors will provide gear for children who need it. Area bait shops will provide the bait. Each child will receive a goodie bag of fishing-related items.

Adults may pre-register interested children in advance at the Eagle River Chamber of Commerce Office at 201 N. Railroad Street, Eagle River, or by phone 715-479-6400 or via email to kim@eagleriver.org If there are openings available on the day of the event, registrations will be taken until all 50 spots are filled.

Registration and check-in will be held at the Vilas County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on July 11.

Parents can pick up their children at the Vilas County Fairgrounds once fishing activities end. Pick-up time is 4 p.m. sharp.
