If gas tax rises, insurance should go down

So the politicians in Lansing want to raise the gasoline tax by 47 cents over the next few years. If that is what they want, why can’t they then lower the auto insurance rates, which are the highest or near-highest in the nation? All politicians know is tax and spend.
