Beacon House a worthy cause for local donations

Very nice article in a recent Daily News regarding The Beacon House in Marquette. The Mariuccis and their cohorts are doing a wonderful thing for the community while encompassing the entire U.P. and surrounding areas.

Their website had listings of all the donors who are helping with the huge financial obligation the construction entails — everyone from private citizens to corporate donors doing their part to make the dream a reality.

Conspicuously absent from these lists were some major corporations from our area who employ hundreds of people and seemingly could afford some type of contribution. The remaining $2.4 million needed to complete the facility could be made up pretty quickly with help from these organizations.

How about sending The Beacon House a substantial donation using some or all of the money you “saved” using the questionable at best “dark store” loophole to reduce your tax liability and subsequently deprive our local communities of much-needed revenue.

Come on, higher-ups, step up to the plate. Make a donation.

Glad that radio shows are back

Just wanted to say thank you to WMIQ-AM radio for getting Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin shows back on the radio. A lot of us have been waiting a long time for them to get these shows back on. Won’t have to listen to Escanaba or Wausau, Wis., anymore. Thanks again, WMIQ.
