Boys Basketball: Beaster breaks Florence rebound record

THREE LAKES, Wis. — Evan Beaster broke a Florence High School single-season rebound record Thursday.

Beaster grabbed 15 rebounds to hike his season total to 323 as Florence defeated Three Lakes 63-46 to close out the Northern Lakes Conference boys basketall regular season.

Beaster erased Lee Ringbloom’s single-season rebound record of 320 set in 1968-69.

“I’m really proud of Evan and hope he continues to rebound well in the tournament,” said Florence coach Bryan Bomberg.

Beaster, who led the state in rebouding last year, stands second this season.

Kaden Schuls led Florence (15-5, 11-3) with 24 points and five assists. Beaster had 14 points and Lucas Krueger had five steals.

“We did a nice job on the defensice side,” Bomberg said. “Kaden and Lucas did a good job on the guys they were matched up with.”

Florence hosts Goodman-Pembine on Tuesday to open the WIAA Division 5 regional tournament.

“Overall, this was a quality win for us on the road,” Bomberg said. “Three Lakes plays a tough man to man defense.”
