St. Norbert professor earns $252,600 on ‘Jeopardy!’

De PERE, Wis. — Ben Chan will return to “Jeopardy!” at a later date to compete in the Tournament of Champions after coming up one letter short of 10 straight victories.

After notching nine victories in a row and earning $252,600, the assistant professor of philosophy at St. Norbert College in De Pere lost on Tuesday’s episode of the TV game show.

Chan’s streak came to end when he misnamed the Shakespeare character Benedick in Final Jeopardy!

He misspelled the name as Benedict.

Chan is the only player in the show’s history to win their first nine consecutive games in runaways.

“I hope that in all the 10 games that the way I played showed gratitude and appreciation for what a unique opportunity this is,” he said.
