Alzheimer’s support group meets

IRON MOUNTAIN — A support group for Alzheimer’s caregivers is offered from 2 to 3 p.m. the first Thursday of each month in the lower level of the Dickinson-Iron Community Services Agency, 1238 Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain.

Tammy Tomassucci of DICSA Family Ties oversees the meetings. She can be contacted at 906-774-8032.

The Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support group offers a safe space for caregivers, family and friends of someone with dementia. It enables participants to build a support system with people who understand. It also allows participants to exchange practical information on caregiving challenges and possible solutions, talk through issues and ways of coping, share feelings, needs and concerns as well as learn about community resources.

The support group meets regularly and encourages caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health, as well as optimally care for the person with dementia.
