Legislative Dinner slated

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Upper Peninsula Association of American Legion Posts eighth annual Legislative Dinner is planned Saturday, April 27.

The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 of Iron Mountain will host the event. Cocktails will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.

The dinner and “roast” is to recognize and show appreciation for elected legislators and their continued attention to veterans issues in a light-hearted atmosphere.

Seven legislative members will be in attendance including Paul Flint, an aide for Representative Jack Bergman; Michigan 38th State Senator Ed McBroom; 108th District State Representative Beau LaFave; 109th District State Representative Sara Cambseny; 110th District State Representative Greg Markkanen; Jay Gage, aid for State Senator Debbie Stabenow and Kaitlyn Rader, aid for State Senator Gary Peters.

The emcee for the event will be Ron Runyan, adjutant for the American Legion Department of Michigan.

The menu will include chateaubriand beef tenderloin as the main entree. Cost is $20 per person.

Tickets must be purchased in advance by April 24 at Post 50, 916 River Ave. in Iron Mountain or by calling 906-774-5797 from 2 to 8 p.m.

All veterans are encouraged to attend this annual American Legion event. The dinner is open to the public.

American Legion Post 50 is the home of Oscar G. Johnson, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient.
