Honeybees featured in program July 13

Learn all about the honeybees shown above at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain during the Make Space for Honeybees program at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13.

Monday

— Bow Wows and Books, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Kids of all ages can practice their literacy skills in a fun and accepting environment by reading to friendly canines. Thor, an English mastiff, and Clara, a Yorkshire terrier, are partners in this reading adventure. Sign up at the circulation desk or call the library at 906-774-1218 to reserve a 10-minute time slot with either or both dogs.

Tuesday

— Directed Discussions, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Dickinson Branch Library in Felch Township.

This is an opportunity to speak with Library Director Megan Buck in an open forum. Stop by to say hello and bring questions, suggestions or concerns about library services. No appointment is necessary.

— Fun with the Sun, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all three Dickinson County Library branches.

Let the sun be your guide as you make ultraviolet bead key chains and use Sun Art Paper to design colorful shadow collages. For all ages. Sponsored by attorney Brian Brouillette.

Thursday, July 4

— All branches of the Dickinson County Library will be closed for Independence Day. Regular hours resume July 5.

Sunday, July 7

— Summer Space Cinema, 1:30 p.m., Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Keep cool during the hot days of summer by watching movies at the library. Each week will feature a different space-themed film. All movies will be rated G, PG, or PG-13, so the whole family can enjoy them together. See www.dcl-lib.org for a full schedule. Saturday, July 13

— Make Space for Honeybees, 1 p.m., Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Learn about the importance of honeybees. Anyone in grade 3 and up is welcome to see live bees behind glass, taste honey and create a candle from beeswax. Registration is required, as program attendance will be capped at 100 people. Registration opened June 10. Sponsored by Dr. Daniel and Christine McMahon.
