Parkinson’s group plans to meet June 20

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Parkinson’s Society of Dickinson County Area, a support group for Parkinson’s disease patients, caregivers, family and friends, will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at Evergreen Senior Living activity room in Kingsford.

Participants should note the change of location due to activities at the church.

The guest speaker will be Brad Mouw, discussing a new medication on the market for Parkinson’s patients.

After Mouw will be a discussion of some good books to read for more information about PD.

The business meeting will include more information about the fall symposium Sept. 27.

They currently still have room for vendors. Anyone who wishes to set up a health-related booth should contact Pauline Hill at 906-774-0332.

The group also wanted to thank those who came to celebrate Hill’s birthday party, sent in cards or made donations to the support group. The donations will be used to assist Parkinson’s patients in the area.

Refreshments and snacks will be available at the June 20 meeting. Members also are welcome to bring snacks to share.

The support group meeting is open to any area Parkinson’s disease patients, their care partners, family and friends in neighboring counties and northern Wisconsin.

For more information, call 906-774-0332.
