Auditions for ‘A Christmas Story’ Sunday

IRON MOUNTAIN — Auditions for Dickinson County Community Theatre’s November production of “A Christmas Story” continue at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Braumart Theatre.

The production will be directed by Fred Jump, who directed “Li’l Abner” and recently played the narrator in “Shakespeare for an Evening.”

Produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company, Jean Shepherd’s “A Christmas Story” is a play in two acts by Philip Grecian.

Characters to be cast include, Ralphie, teacher Miss Shields, his buddies Flick and Schwartz, villain Scut Farkas, along with fellow students Esther Jane Alberry and Helen Weathers.

The play is similar to the popular movie, so those interested in auditioning should review the movie and decide what size role they might prefer — larger parts such as Ralph as a grown up, or more brief characters such as the tree lot salesman or the workman who brings the “major award,” the legendary leg lamp.

Members and friends of DCCT, Friends of the Braumart, kids from Future Stars Acting Company and interested people from the general public are welcome to audition for what promises to be a fun beginning to the Christmas season.
